We are seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Manager with a strong background in the legal industry to help grow our expert witness services. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in legal sales, or experience working as a lawyer or paralegal, combined with exceptional communication and relationship-building skills. This role focuses on identifying and securing new business opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and driving revenue growth.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Market Development:
- Identify, target, and develop new client relationships within the legal sector.
- Conduct market research to understand trends, competitor offerings, and potential client needs.
- Create and implement strategies to expand the company’s presence in the legal expert witness services market.
Client Engagement:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with law firms, in-house counsel, and other legal professionals.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their needs and recommending appropriate expert witness services.
- Attend industry events, legal conferences, and networking opportunities to increase visibility and generate leads.
Sales and Revenue Growth:
- Develop and execute a sales plan to achieve revenue targets.
- Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, proposals, and contracts tailored to client needs.
- Monitor and report on sales metrics, forecasting future revenue opportunities.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with internal teams, including marketing and operations, to align business development efforts with overall company goals.
- Provide insights and feedback on market trends to help refine service offerings.
Leadership and Initiative:
- Act as the primary point of contact for prospective clients and partners in the legal field.
- Take ownership of the entire sales cycle, from prospecting to closing deals.
- Mentor junior team members or contribute to the development of best practices for business development.
Education and/or Experience
- Experience: Proven experience in business development, legal sales, or a related role. Alternatively, substantial experience as a lawyer or paralegal with a strong interest in transitioning to a business development role.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the legal industry, including knowledge of law firms’ operations, litigation processes, and the role of expert witnesses.
- Sales Acumen: Demonstrated ability to achieve sales targets and develop long-term client relationships.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and persuade clients.
- Networking Ability: Strong existing network within the legal industry is highly desirable.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; JD or paralegal certification is a plus.
